I did enjoy playing parts of this sequel of everyone's favorite Gamecube RPG, but there were some flaws. Noticeable ones. For one, the protagonist Emil. Without throwing in a lot of spoilers, Emil's a little bitch throughout most of the game until the very end. I think I want to choke the person that did his voicework to make sure that he can't talk again.

Secondly, I really dislike how they just tossed Vesperia's arte and skill system into the mix without any care at all. It simply doesn't fit with the first game. Not to mention that the boss' mystic artes close to the end made boss fights a real bitch.

Third, I don't care much for the changes in combat, also thrown in from Vesperia, which really doesn't mesh with what I'm used to from the original Symphonia. The only new thing I liked about the combat is the monsters. It adds in a bit more strategy, making you think of what arte you need to use in order to catch that specific monster, then think of which monster already in your party would be best matched with the new one to make keeping him easier.

Next, what the hell happened to the Summon Spirits? There were only a couple of passing references to the old ones, and they just tossed in a couple of new ones.

Finally, no traveling on the world map just fucking blows. That's where half of my experience came from in the first Symphonia, and now they totally do away with it. They might as well have abandoned the idea of walking around a world and fixed it so that when you left a place, you just appeared in the next one. It would have saved me a lot of time just watching Emil's faggot ass meander on from one town to another.

You can tell this was the work of Tales' B team. What's sad is that half of the game is scrapped from the work of the A team. Some of the stuff would have really worked in Vesperia, but not so much in Symphonia. It's a damn shame, really.

Hey, I dunno. I was just livening up the Wii section. I guess I could give it a shot, though.
